The California Psychedelic Bar Association (CAPBA) aims to provide educational resources, advocacy, and networking opportunities for California lawyers and other legal professionals serving the emerging psychedelic sector.

CAPBA’s mission is to ensure that the highest quality of legal services is available to the California psychedelic sector by providing continuing legal education and other resources relevant to California practitioners serving the psychedelic sector, advocating for the interests of California lawyers representing the psychedelic industry, and building a thriving network of California practitioners in the psychedelic sector to share knowledge and community.

Meet the founding members

  • Rebecca Lee Whiting

    Chief Legal Officer and Acting Chief Operating Officer at Journey Colab

    Rebecca Lee serves as Chief Legal Officer of Journey Colab, a biopharmaceutical startup developing synthetically-derived psychedelic therapeutics to transform the treatment of addiction. A graduate (cum laude) of Yale College and the UC Berkeley School of Law (Order of the Coif), Rebecca has represented and advised progressive organizations and public entities in strategic social change campaigns and high-stakes impact litigation at all levels of the state and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court. Before joining Journey Colab, Rebecca represented clients in private practice, including the City of San Francisco, NRDC, SEIU, and the Writers Guild of America, and previously served as a federal law clerk on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.

  • Paul Slattery

    General Counsel at Eleusis

    Paul is Eleusis’ General Counsel. Previously, Paul litigated for Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan in Los Angeles. He’s taken corporate governance, partnership, antitrust, investment management, and patent cases to trial in various US jurisdictions and as far afield as Dubai. He’s also acted in matters that range from consumer class actions and criminal bank fraud to “palimony” and rights of first refusal to acquire Oscar statuettes. Paul’s prior experience includes the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office, the United States Court of International Trade, and behavioral economics research for Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.

    Paul holds a JD from Yale Law School and a BS in Economics and BA in Literature, both with distinction, from Duke University.
